The 2019 Jeep Cherokee (KL) represents a major course correction. The previous model was controversial due to its "split" headlights, but this 2019 Facelift brings a cleaner, more premium look that aligns with the Grand Cherokee. Origin: USA (Belvidere, Illinois). It sits above the Compass in terms of size and off-road prowess, offering a true mid-size SUV experience that feels substantial on Kenyan highways.

The 2019 update introduced a new turbo option, but the V6 remains the favorite:

• 2.4L Tigershark (MultiAir 2) STANDARD
  180 HP / 230 Nm. Adequate for city driving but struggles when the car is fully loaded with passengers and luggage.
• 3.2L Pentastar V6 RECOMMENDED
  271 HP / 324 Nm. One of the few remaining V6s in this class. It offers smooth, linear power and a towing capacity of 2,000kg. It is thirsty but reliable.

• More Space: The boot grew by 85 litres in the 2019 update (now 730 Litres). The rear seats slide forward and backward to prioritize legroom or cargo space.
• Comfort: The "Latitude" and "Limited" trims offer excellent leather seats. The cabin isolation is superior to the Compass, making it a better long-distance cruiser.

Standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the 7-inch or 8.4-inch Uconnect screens. The interface is intuitive, with large icons that are easy to hit even on a bumpy road.

• Consumption: 8–10 km/l (V6) or 9–11 km/l (2.4L). The 9-speed automatic helps on the highway, but city mileage is heavy.
• Service: The 3.2L V6 is a variation of the engine found in the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, so parts are reasonably accessible. The 2.4L Tigershark requires strict oil monitoring.

• Trail Rated: Even non-Trailhawk models have decent clearance (200mm+). The "Active Drive II" system adds a low-range gear for crawling—something the Harrier and X-Trail simply cannot do.

8 Airbags standard. The 2019 model addressed the transmission shift quality issues of the earlier KL models. It is a much more polished product now.

Who is this for? The buyer who needs a crossover but refuses to drive a generic "soft-roader." Who is it NOT for? Those expecting Toyota-level fuel economy.
