The 2025 BMW X7 (G07 LCI) is the SUV that refuses to be ignored. Launched in 2018 to rival the GLS, this facelifted model (introduced 2022) wears the controversial "split headlight" design shared with the 7 Series. It is massive, imposing, and surprisingly agile. For the Kenyan elite, it offers the presence of a Range Rover with the driving dynamics of a BMW. It is a 7-seater that actually fits 7 adults.

The LCI update brought mild-hybrid tech to all engines:

• xDrive40i (3.0L Inline-6): 375 HP / 540 Nm. RECOMMENDED The updated B58 engine is silky smooth and powerful enough to move this 2.5-tonne building to 100km/h in 5.8s.
• xDrive40d (3.0L Diesel): 340 HP / 700 Nm. The torque king. Ideal for long-distance cruising, offering nearly 1,000km range per tank.
• M60i (4.4L V8): 523 HP. Replaces the M50i. Excessive, loud, and thirsty. A true statement piece.

• Curved Display: The massive single pane of glass houses a 12.3-inch cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen running iDrive 8. It looks futuristic but hides climate controls in menus.
• Captain Chairs: The 6-seat configuration offers two luxury chairs in the middle row with armrests. This allows walk-through access to the 3rd row, perfect for families.

• Consumption: 8–10 km/l (40i). The 48V mild hybrid system helps start-stop, but physics is physics.
• Service: Bavara Auto or Inchcape are your go-to. Parts are shared with the X5, but specific X7 body panels and glass are special order items.
• Tyres: 21, 22, or 23-inch wheels. A single 23-inch tyre can cost Ksh 80,000. Plan accordingly.

Magic Carpet: Standard two-axle air suspension irons out Nairobi's potholes beautifully. It can raise the car for light off-roading. However, the long wheelbase means breakover angles are poor—don't take it deep into the Mara bush.

Comes with Driving Assistant Professional (hands-off driving in jams). Reliability of the G07 platform has been solid, but check for air suspension leaks and sunroof mechanism issues on older models.
