The 2024 Audi A7 is automotive sculpture. While it shares its skeleton with the A6 sedan, it wears a bespoke suit. First introduced in 2010 to rival the Mercedes CLS, this 2nd Generation (launched 2018) refined the formula with a full-width rear light bar and sharper lines. It is a Sportback (hatchback), meaning the boot opening is massive, making it surprisingly practical for carrying golf clubs or holiday luggage to Naivasha.

Only the premium engines fit the A7's character:

• 55 TFSI (3.0L V6 Petrol): 340 HP / 500 Nm. RECOMMENDED The same engine as the A8. It is effortless, quiet, and uses a 48V mild-hybrid system to coast silently on the highway.
• 45 TFSI (2.0L Petrol): 265 HP. A 4-cylinder option for those watching the budget. It is punchy enough but lacks the prestige sound of the V6.
• 50 TDI (3.0L V6 Diesel): 286 HP. The long-distance cruiser. Massive torque (620 Nm) makes it faster in the real world than the petrols.

• Frameless Windows: The doors have no frames, adding to the coupe feel. The glass is double-glazed (acoustic) on higher trims to keep Nairobi noise out.
• Sportback Boot: The entire rear glass lifts up. This creates a massive opening. While the boot volume (535L) is similar to a sedan, the access is far superior.

• Consumption: 10–12 km/l (55 TFSI). The mild-hybrid system does a good job of masking the thirst of the V6.
• Service: It shares mechanicals with the A6 and Q8. Parts are premium. The Quattro system and S-Tronic gearbox need religious maintenance.
• Active Spoiler: The rear spoiler pops up automatically at 120km/h (or manually via a button). It looks cool but is another moving part to maintain.

Low and Sleek: At 145mm clearance, it is a tarmac princess. The long overhangs mean you must approach ramps diagonally. Opt for the adaptive air suspension if possible—it allows you to lift the car slightly for rough sections.

5-Star Euro NCAP rating. The HD Matrix LED headlights are incredible at night, masking out oncoming traffic while keeping high beams on. Reliability is good, but the multiple touchscreens can be prone to software glitches.
