The 2022 Toyota Voxy (90 Series) is the "Mini Alphard" you have been waiting for. Launched in January 2022 alongside its twin, the Noah, the 4th Generation Voxy moves to the TNGA-C platform. This is a massive upgrade, offering a stiffer chassis, better handling, and significantly reduced road noise compared to the rattly 80 series. With its aggressive "skeleton" front grille, it targets the parent who refuses to drive a boring van.

The 90 Series brings the Dynamic Force engines:

• 2.0L Petrol (M20A-FKS): 170 HP. STANDARD A massive improvement over the old 3ZR. It uses D-4S injection for better power and pairs with a Direct Shift-CVT (with a physical launch gear) for sharper acceleration.
• 1.8L Hybrid (2ZR-FXE): 140 HP (Combined). Updated 5th Gen hybrid system with a lithium-ion battery. It is smoother and more responsive than the 80 Series hybrid.

• Ottoman Seats: In the 7-seat version, the second row features ottomans (leg rests) and heated seats, a luxury previously reserved for the Alphard. The long slide rails allow for limo-like legroom.
• Karakuri Third Row: The 3rd-row seats now fold up with a simple one-touch mechanism and lock into the window recess, creating a wider cargo space than before.

• Consumption: 13–15 km/l (2.0L Petrol) vs 20–23 km/l (Hybrid). The Dynamic Force engine is incredibly efficient.
• Service: It shares its engine with the RAV4 (XA50) and Harrier (XU80). Parts are already available in Nairobi. Maintenance is cheap.
• Universal Step: An optional mechanical step deploys when the sliding door opens, making it easier for kids and elderly to board.

TNGA Stability: The new platform reduces body roll significantly. It no longer feels like a boat in corners. Ground clearance is still 140mm, so approach steep speed bumps with caution. It is a tarmac family hauler.

Standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. It includes Proactive Driving Assist which gently brakes for curves or vehicles ahead. It is one of the safest vans on the road. Reliability of the M20A engine is excellent.
