The 2022 Mazda Carol is the unsung hero of fuel economy. It is a rebadged version of the Suzuki Alto (9th Generation), which launched in Japan in December 2021. It moved away from the sharp angles of the previous Alto to a softer, boxier, retro-modern design. While the "Carol" name dates back to 1962, this modern iteration is all about one thing: maximum efficiency for minimum cost.

• Hybrid GS / GX (Mild Hybrid): 49 HP. RECOMMENDED Features a lithium-ion battery and ISG (Integrated Starter Generator). It provides smooth, silent restarts and assist power.
• GL (Non-Hybrid): 46 HP. The basic "ENE-CHARGE" model. Cheaper but lacks the smoothness of the hybrid.

• Simplicity: The dashboard is simple and functional with a denim-like fabric trim. No complex screens or buttons to fail.
• Space: The tall, boxy roofline (higher than the previous Alto) provides decent headroom. Rear legroom is surprisingly good for such a tiny car.
