2022 Lamborghini Urus: A Carimports.co.ke Review
The Big Picture
The 2022 Lamborghini Urus is the car that changed the rules. Before the Urus, "Super SUV" was an oxymoron. Launched in 2018, it became the best-selling Lamborghini of all time. It shares its MLB Evo platform with the Audi RS Q8 and Bentley Bentayga but is tuned to be the sharpest, loudest, and most aggressive of the trio. It is a supercar that can carry a family and clear a speed bump.
Quick Specs
Engine Options & Model Codes
The heart of a bull:
- 4.0L Twin-Turbo V8: 650 HP / 850 Nm. STANDARD While shared with Audi, Lamborghini has reworked the heads and turbos. It screams to 6,800 rpm and delivers torque that pins you to the seat. It is the first turbo Lamborghini engine.
Interior & Practicality
- The Cockpit: The "Tamburo" drive mode selector on the center console looks like the throttle of a jet fighter. The start button is hidden under a red flip cover. It is pure theater.
- Usable Space: It seats 4 or 5 (depending on config). The boot is 616 Litres—surprisingly practical for a supercar. You can actually do the monthly shopping in a Urus.
Fuel Efficiency & Ownership Costs
- Consumption: 4–6 km/l. If you are worried about fuel, you cannot afford it.
- Service: Stratospheric. Tyres (Pirelli P Zero Corsa, 23-inch) cost a fortune. Carbon ceramic brake replacement can cost as much as a used Toyota Vitz.
- Attention: It attracts crowds everywhere. Valet parking is mandatory; street parking is impossible due to attention.
Suitability for Kenyan Roads
Lift Mode: The air suspension can lift the car to 248mm in "Terra" (Off-Road) mode. This allows it to clear Kenyan speed bumps and even drive on dirt roads without scraping the expensive underside. It is surprisingly compliant in "Strada" (Street) mode.
Safety & Reliability
Underneath the Italian skin, the electronics and safety systems are Audi. This means they actually work reliably. It features Adaptive Cruise Control and Pre-Sense safety tech.

The Ci Verdict
Who is this for? The billionaire who wants the fastest SUV in the world and wants everyone to know it. Who is it NOT for? Those who prefer "Quiet Luxury"—buy a Bentley Bentayga instead.
