The 2019 Toyota Vellfire is the Alphard's bolder, edgier twin. While mechanically identical, the Vellfire features a distinct "split-headlight" design that appeals to a younger, sportier demographic. In Kenya, it commands the same respect and luxury status as the Alphard.

Like the Alphard, the 2.5L petrol engine is the volume seller, offering a reliable balance of power and economy (9-11 km/l). The 3.5L V6 turns it into a highway missile, but parts are harder to find. The 2.5L Hybrid is excellent for fuel savings in Nairobi traffic.

The Vellfire's front end is aggressive, with extensive chrome and sharp lines. Inside, it mirrors the Alphard with vast space, sliding seats, and a low floor for easy access. Ground clearance is 160 mm, optimized for tarmac comfort rather than off-roading.

The ZG Edition is the sweet spot, featuring captain's chairs with ottomans. The cabin is whisper-quiet, thanks to extensive sound deadening. Top trims include a premium JBL sound system and ambient roof lighting.

Safety is top-notch with 7 airbags and Toyota Safety Sense. The boxy shape is susceptible to crosswinds at high speeds, but the suspension keeps it planted and secure for normal driving.

Mechanically bulletproof. The 2.5L engine is simple to service. The main costs come from cosmetic parts (lights, bumpers) which are expensive to replace if damaged. Ensure your insurance covers these high-value items.

Vellfires are slightly rarer than Alphards, sometimes commanding a higher price.
