The 2019 Peugeot 3008 brings French flair to a segment dominated by practical Japanese cars. It is arguably the best-looking compact SUV inside and out. It appeals to those who want to stand out and enjoy a high-quality cabin without paying German prices.

The 1.6L THP Petrol (165 HP) is punchy and refined, paired with a 6-speed automatic. It returns 12-14 km/l. The 2.0L BlueHDi diesel is a torque monster for highway runs, but less common as a Japan import.

The exterior is striking with the "lion claw" taillights. Inside, the i-Cockpit wraps around the driver with a small steering wheel and digital dash. Ground clearance is 219 mm, which is actually very good for Kenyan roads, beating the RAV4.

The interior uses fabric dashboard inserts and toggle switches that feel aviation-inspired. It is a lovely place to sit. The small steering wheel makes the car feel agile and go-kart-like.

5-star Euro NCAP rating. It feels solid and secure on the road, though it is Front Wheel Drive only (using "Grip Control" for loose surfaces instead of true AWD).

Modern Peugeots are reliable, but the 1.6 THP engine requires high-quality fuel and strict oil changes to prevent timing chain issues. Parts are available at Urysia and specialist importers, but are pricier than Toyota parts.
