The 2019 Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter (FK/FM Series) is the "Old Reliable" of the medium-duty truck world. The current cab design can trace its roots back to 1992, making it one of the oldest designs still in production. However, don't mistake age for obsolescence. It has been continuously updated with modern common-rail engines and safety tech. For the Kenyan transporter, this means you get a truck with proven, simple mechanicals that any mechanic can fix.

The Fighter relies on the legendary 6M60 engine:

• 6M60-T1 (7.5L 6-Cyl Turbo): STANDARD This engine is a torque monster (approx 780 Nm). It uses a Variable Geometry Turbo to reduce lag. It is simpler than the 4HK1 in the Isuzu FRR and is preferred by mechanics who like "big block" engines.

• Classic Cab: The interior feels dated compared to a 2019 Hino Ranger. The dashboard design is basic, but functional. Visibility is excellent thanks to the "transom" window in the passenger door (a small lower window to see pedestrians).
• Bed Space: Most "Custom" models come with a sleeper bed behind the seats, essential for waiting at weighbridges or borders.

• Consumption: 4–5 km/l (Loaded). The 7.5L engine is thirsty compared to the 5.2L Isuzu, but it handles heavy loads with less stress.
• Service: Fuso parts are widely available. The 6M60 engine is robust, but the BlueTec exhaust system (AdBlue) needs care.
• Durability: The chassis rails are thicker than some competitors. It is built to be overloaded (though we advise against it).

Rough Road King: The suspension is stiff. It bounces the driver around on empty runs, but on rough quarry roads, it feels unbreakable. It is less sensitive to bad roads than the air-suspended Hino Ranger.

Despite the old cab design, 2019 models feature ABS and sometimes an airbag. The lack of complex electronics (compared to European trucks) makes it very reliable in remote areas.
