The 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate (S205 Facelift) is for the driver who wants the badge but needs the boot. Origin: Germany (Bremen) / South Africa (East London). While the Sedan (W205) is everywhere in Nairobi, the Estate is a rarer, cooler choice. The 2019 update brought the "Star Dust" tail lights, a digital cockpit, and 48V mild-hybrid engines, making it a tech-forward family hauler.

The 2019 Facelift introduced the EQ Boost system:

• C 200 (1.5L Turbo + EQ Boost) STANDARD
  184 HP + 14 HP. The new 1.5L M264 engine replaced the old 2.0L. It uses a 48V starter-generator to fill in torque gaps (turbo lag) and allows the engine to turn off while coasting. It is very efficient.
• C 220 d (2.0L Diesel)
  194 HP. The OM654 diesel is a masterpiece of refinement. It is quieter than the petrol engine at highway speeds and pulls like a train.

• The Boot: 490 Litres seats up, 1510 Litres seats down. It features a 40:20:40 split fold and electric release buttons. The load lip is lower than the Sedan's, making it easier to load heavy suitcases.
• Digital Cockpit: The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster (optional but common on UK imports) allows you to customize the dials. The steering wheel now has "Blackberry-style" touch pads.

The 10.25-inch center screen is wide and crisp. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported via USB. The "Energizing Comfort Control" links climate, lighting, and music to keep the driver alert.

• Consumption: 13–15 km/l (C 200). The mild-hybrid system really works in stop-start traffic.
• Service: The 9G-Tronic gearbox is sealed for life (mostly) but check diff oils. The 48V battery is expensive to replace if it fails (rare, but possible).

• Low Clearance: 130mm. This is a European estate. It hates speed bumps. If you buy the AMG Line, it is even lower. Air suspension (Airmatic) allows you to raise it, but steel springs are safer for longevity.

Active Brake Assist is standard. The M264 engine is reliable, but ensure the 48V system firmware is updated during service. It is a complex car electrically.
