The Hino Dutro (300 Series) is a staple of the Kenyan transport industry. As a Toyota Group company, Hino delivers legendary reliability. The 2019 model is part of the 2nd Generation (refreshed in 2011/2019) and is virtually identical to the Toyota Dyna. • 4.0L Diesel (Code: N04C) RECOMMENDED
  This is the gold standard. It is a common-rail turbo diesel producing between 150 HP and 180 HP. It offers excellent torque for hauling building materials up Kenyan hills.

• Driver Focus: The cabin layout prioritizes visibility and ease of use. The two-spoke steering wheel allows a clear view of the gauges.
• Wide vs Standard: Like the Canter, it comes in Standard (city use) and Wide (inter-town transport) cab widths. The Wide cab is significantly more comfortable for 3 occupants.

• Safety Upgrades: 2019 models saw the introduction of PCS (Pre-Collision System) which uses a camera and radar to detect pedestrians and vehicles, applying brakes if necessary.

The N04C engine is a workhorse but requires clean fuel. It is common to install an extra fuel filter/water separator in Kenya to protect the injectors. The manual transmission is robust; the automatic requires more care.
