Built on the billion-dollar "Giorgio" platform (which it shares with the Maserati Grecale), the Giulia was designed to beat the BMW 3 Series at its own game: driving dynamics. In Kenya, it is a rare sight, driven by those who value Italian flair and steering feel over the "safe" resale value of a Mercedes C-Class.

Forget the complex V6 Quadrifoglio for daily use; the 2.0L is the sweet spot:

• 2.0L Turbo Petrol (MultiAir) STANDARD
  Available in two tunes: 200 HP (Base/Super) or 280 HP (Veloce). Even the base model feels faster than a C200 thanks to a carbon-fiber driveshaft (standard on all Giulias) that reduces weight and improves throttle response.
• 2.2L Diesel (JTDm)
  150 HP - 210 HP. Excellent torque (450 Nm) for highway cruising, but the diesel clatter ruins the elegant vibe of the car.

• The Cockpit: The start button is on the steering wheel, just like a Ferrari. The paddle shifters (on Veloce trims) are massive columns of aluminium that feel cold and expensive to the touch.
• Space: The rear seats are tight. If you have tall teenagers, buy the Stelvio instead. The boot (480 Litres) is competitive, but the opening is narrow.

The 8.8-inch screen is integrated beautifully into the dash (no floating tablet look). The 2019 update finally brought Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. The rotary dial interface is intuitive, similar to BMW's iDrive.

• Consumption: 10–12 km/l (2.0L Petrol). It encourages spirited driving, which hurts economy.
• Service: This is the elephant in the room. Parts are NOT available at your local shop. You must rely on specialist importers or dealerships in Nairobi (like AutoXpress or dedicated Italian specialists). Consumables (filters/pads) are pricey.

• Handling vs. Potholes: The steering is lightning fast—the quickest ratio in its class. It darts into corners. However, the ride is firm. You will feel every imperfection on Mombasa Road.
• Clearance: Low (approx 140mm). Speed bumps must be approached with extreme caution to avoid scraping the front splitter.
