2024 Nissan Ariya in Kenya: Review, Prices & Specs

2024 Nissan Ariya: A Carimports.co.ke Review

The Big Picture

The 2024 Nissan Ariya is the electric car Nissan fans have been waiting for. Launched in 2022, it is a quantum leap over the Leaf. It sits on a dedicated EV platform (CMF-EV) and features a stunning "Timeless Japanese Futurism" design. With a flat floor and a minimalist interior that looks like a high-end Tokyo hotel, it is designed to compete directly with the Tesla Model Y and Volvo XC40 Recharge.

Quick Specs

Range 400 - 500 km
0-100 kph 5.1 - 7.5 s
Power 218 - 394 HP
Battery 63 / 87 kWh

Powertrain & Battery Options

Select the range that fits your lifestyle:

  • 63 kWh Battery (2WD): 218 HP. Range ~400km (WLTP). STANDARD Perfect for city use and short trips to Naivasha.
  • 87 kWh Battery (e-4ORCE AWD): 306 - 394 HP. Range ~500km (WLTP). The e-4ORCE system provides twin-motor AWD for incredible grip and stability. This is the version to get for long-distance travel in Kenya.

Interior & Practicality

  • Lounge Cabin: The center console is electrically adjustable—you can move it forward or back. Buttons for climate control are haptic, integrated directly into the wood-grain dashboard. It feels incredibly premium.
  • Flat Floor: Because there is no transmission tunnel, the front cabin is open and airy. You can pass through from the driver to the passenger seat easily. The boot (468 Litres) is deep and flat.

Fuel Efficiency & Ownership Costs

  • Charging: Supports up to 130kW DC charging (10-80% in 35 mins). Home charging on a wallbox takes 10-14 hours depending on battery size.
  • Service: Near zero. No engine oil, plugs, or timing belts. Tyres and cabin filters are the main items. Nissan offers a 10-year battery warranty in some markets.

Suitability for Kenyan Roads

Smooth Runner: The suspension is tuned for comfort. It glides over small bumps but can feel "jiggly" over corrugated roads due to its heavy battery weight. 175-185mm clearance (depending on trim) is standard crossover height—good for speed bumps but not off-roading.

Safety & Reliability

5-Star Euro NCAP rating. Features ProPILOT 2.0 (hands-off driving on highways). Standard Safety Shield 360 is excellent. Reliability has been high since launch with few reported battery issues.

💰 2024 Nissan Ariya Price in Kenya

The following are average showroom prices for fresh imports in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, and Eldoret.

Evolve (87 kWh AWD) Ksh 10.5M Ksh 12.5M Ksh 2.0M

The Ci Verdict

Who is this for? The executive who wants an electric SUV that feels more like a luxury lounge than a gadget. Who is it NOT for? Fans of physical buttons—the haptic controls require a learning curve.
