The 2023 BMW M3 (G80) is the most controversial and capable M3 ever made. Launched in 2021 as the 6th Generation of the icon that started in 1986, it introduced the massive vertical kidney grilles that broke the internet. But look past the nose, and you find a machine that offers M xDrive all-wheel drive for the first time, allowing it to put its massive power down even on dusty Kenyan roads.

Powered by the S58 engine, a masterpiece of engineering:

• M3 Competition (3.0L Twin-Turbo): 510 HP / 650 Nm. STANDARD This is the version most commonly imported. It comes with an 8-speed M Steptronic auto. Available in RWD or xDrive AWD.
• M3 (Base): 480 HP. Comes with a 6-speed Manual transmission. Rare, RWD only, and slower (0-100 in 4.2s), but offers pure driver engagement.

• Carbon Buckets: The optional M Carbon Bucket seats look incredible and save weight, but the high bolsters make getting in and out a daily struggle. Try before you buy.
• Curved Display: 2023+ models feature the massive curved display with iDrive 8. It looks futuristic but integrates climate controls into the screen, which some purists dislike.

• Consumption: 7–9 km/l. It is a 500HP sports car; do not expect miracles.
• Service: The 2,000km break-in service ("running-in check") is critical. If importing used, verify this was done on time in the service history. Differentials and M-specific fluids are expensive.
• Tyres: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Rears are huge (285/35 ZR19 or 20). Replacing them is an annual event if you drive enthusiastically.

Clearance Anxiety: The front carbon splitter is very low. You will scrape on speed bumps. The suspension is stiff, even in "Comfort" mode. However, the xDrive AWD makes it usable in the rain, providing traction where the old F80 M3 would just spin its wheels.

Includes M Drift Analyzer (for track use only!). The S58 engine is forged and built to handle high boost. Reliability so far has been excellent, a big step up from the rod-bearing issues of older M3s.
